Nicholas Mitchell, Senior Associate
As senior associate for the Hughes Media Law Group Nick focuses on a variety of intellectual property disciplines including strategic business development, video and casual gaming, and drafting and negotiating various online services, media development and marketing agreements.
Prior to joining Hughes Media Law Group, he was the Intellectual Property Licensing Manager for Microsoft Game Studios, where he focused on negotiating and drafting copyright, trademark, development, publishing and marketing agreements for videogame production. Additionally, he oversaw Microsoft Game Studios' music strategy and cross-group music initiatives with the Zune Music Player and Service, working on such well known franchises as Halo, Gears of War, Forza Motorsport, Viva Piñata and Project Gotham Racing.
As legal extern of the Corbis Corporation, Nick was responsible for investigating and negotiating copyright infringement and providing legal assessments to customer service teams and was a summer intern for Federal Magistrate, the Hon. Monica J. Benton.
Before my legal career, he co-owned and operated a successful music promotion and artist management company in the Seattle area specializing in special event booking, onsite event coordination and promotions.
In addition to the Hughes Media Law Group, Nick is also the current Chair of the Northwest Chapter of the Copyright Society of the United States of America, a member of the Washington Lawyers for the Arts and he sits on the Advisory Board for the Viet Nam Children’s Village Fund, a charitable organization that works to build schools and provide educational opportunities for children along the rural villages of the Mekong Delta.
